Research & Litigation
Real change for mental health in India needs more than awareness. It needs policy, precedent, and pressure. This is our current litigation and research initiative.
Current High Court litigation
We are preparing High Court litigation aimed at making mental health support an enforceable entitlement rather than a discretionary service — particularly in schools, where the gap between what the law already requires and what students actually receive is widest.
We are not publishing the case details yet. Court name, petition number, filing date and hearing schedule go up here once the matter is filed and the advocate on record has cleared the wording. Publishing a half-accurate account of live litigation helps nobody, and can prejudice the matter itself.
What we can say now: the work is real, it is active, and the research feeding it is the reason we need volunteers. If you want to be told when the petition is filed, join the mailing list — litigation updates are one of the things it covers.
Supporting documents
Once the petition is filed we will publish what we can here — the petition itself, supporting affidavits, the research and data cited in it, court orders and notices as they are issued, and a running timeline of hearings.
Documents are published for transparency and public awareness. Anything naming an identifiable individual is redacted before it goes up unless it is already on the public record.
Join our research & legal team
We need legal researchers, paralegal volunteers, people who can draft RTIs, data analysts, and documentation help. Law students welcome — this is real courtroom-adjacent experience.
Request a school notice template
If a school is failing to meet its obligations around a student’s mental health, we can send you a template legal notice you can adapt and serve yourself.
