What happens when you call
If you have never called a helpline before, it can help to know what to expect.
- A trained counsellor answers. You do not have to give your name.
- They will listen first. There is no form to get through and no wrong way to start.
- You can speak in your own language — Tele-MANAS operates in 20 languages across every state and union territory.
- If you need more than a conversation, they can arrange a psychiatric consultation or a video call, and refer you to services near you.
- You are not committing to anything by calling. You can end the call whenever you want.

This page is built to be shared and printed. If you know someone who might need it, send it on — you do not have to say why.
This page prints to a single sheet with the numbers intact — useful to pin up somewhere, or to hand to someone who isn’t online.
State-level Tele-MANAS cell numbers and state helplines are added and updated periodically. If you find a number on this page that no longer works, please tell us and we will correct it.
